TAMPA (September 15, 2015) – To help students from some of the community’s most disadvantaged schools start the year off excited and equipped for learning, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers delivered more than 11,000 new backpacks to the 24 Buccaneers Academy schools in Hillsborough County. As part of the day’s kickoff event at Mort Elementary, students and teachers met the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleaders, team representatives and Captain Fear.
The Buccaneers Academy kickoff effort was in partnership with Alert Today Florida, which donated 5,000 of the backpacks.
About Buccaneers Academy Program
The Buccaneers Academy program is the team’s commitment to supporting generations of youth in the Bay Area. Through interactive and innovative classroom programming, the team supports 24 Hillsborough County Public Schools, with more than 14,000 students, and 1,000 teachers. In addition to the educational curricula, each Academy receives a Tampa Bay Buccaneers-themed covered play court to provide children the ability to play outdoors without risking overexposure to the sun.
