R.R. Simmons is pleased to once again to have been selected by the Design Build Institute of America – Florida Chapter for recognition of our Design/Build efforts. This is the sixed recognition by DBIA of the Simmons Design/Build Team. Peak 10’s Tampa 3.0 Data Center was selected as Best Overall in the Category of Industrial/Process/Research Facility. As a category winner the project will be eligible for Project of the Year at the groups fall session. This highly robust 60,000 square foot two story data center is located in Hidden River Corporate Park. Hidden River was selected due to the exceptional bandwidth capacity and power reliability of the location.
The unusual two-story design was necessitated by the limited availability of shovel ready sites remaining in the I-75 corridor. The four acre parcel was heavily treed and the Simmons design team worked closely with the City of Tampa staff to preserve the extensive wooded site. The facility was surgically placed in the forested site to minimize impacts to the pristine location.
The 100% precast concrete structure is rated for Class 5 hurricane wind forces. The total concrete solution conceived by Simmons for this project provides Peak 10 with un-matched resistance from the forces of Mother Nature. Tampa 3.0 is Peak 10’s most robust and secure facility in their system. R.R. Simmons provided Peak 10 with a complete turnkey Design/Build facility solution for the facility’s harden shell. As both architects and construction managers, R.R. Simmons is a true Design/Builder. For more information about this project or to find out more about the long-standing R.R.
