Tampa, Fla. – More than 30 local organizations have been selected by the Straz Center for the Performing Arts’ Patel Conservatory for its 2015-16 Arts Education School and Community Partnerships Program for the 2015-16 academic school year.
The Patel Conservatory provides high-quality arts enhancement programs throughout the academic year for local schools and organizations through outreach partnerships. Each year, the Patel Conservatory works with under-served area schools, Tampa Bay area agencies and community organizations by providing individualized performing arts programming and/or tickets to shows at the Straz Center.
Arts programming will be customized for each partner. Services include on-site and off-site workshops, residencies, opportunities to attend Straz Center performances and other activities. Examples of past partnership activities include ballet and tap classes for children, theater classes for underprivileged youth and visits from guest artists.
Through applications and interviews with board members, the following organizations were selected as partners for the 2015-16 academic school year:
Advanced partners: Metropolitan Ministries, Inc., Academy Prep, St. Peter Claver Catholic School, St. Joseph Catholic School and Patricia J. Sullivan Elementary (formerly Metropolitan Ministries Partnership School).
Intermediate Partners: Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay, B.C. Graham Elementary School, Lockhart Magnet School, Egypt Lake Elementary School, Firehouse Cultural Center, Inc., Florida Institute for Community Studies, RCMA Wimauma/Leadership Academy, Young Middle Magnet School, Woodmont Charter School and Burnett Middle School.
General partners: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay, Inc, Dunbar Elementary Magnet School and Sulphur Springs YMCA.
Affiliate partners: Positive Spin, Inc., Weinberg Village Assisted Living Facility, CDC of Tampa, Inc., Moffitt Cancer Center – Moffitt Healthy Kids KIDZ Program, Hillsborough County Department of Family and Aging, Inverness Middle School and MacDonald Training Center.
