Local non-profit, GFWC Brandon Junior Woman’s Club, invites Brandon and Tampa Bay area community members to join them for a totally awesome “Back to the 80’s Prom” fundraising event on October 17th, 2015 at River Hills Country Club in Valrico. Tickets can be purchased online at www.backtothe80sprom.com.
The “Back to the 80’s Prom” will benefit Feeding America Tampa Bay, with a focus on supporting their Backpack Program, which supplies weekend meals to thousands of children in the Tampa Bay area (and beyond) who are at risk of going hungry on days when they are not in school. Each year this program continues to grow as the number of at-risk children increases. The goal is to help Feeding America Tampa Bay shoulder the load by bringing the community together to raise money to support this program.
“We strongly believe that no child (or adult, for that matter) should ever experience the feeling of not knowing where their next meal will come from or whether there will be a next meal at all,” said Kim Lasorsa, Publicity Chair. “Partnering with Feeding America Tampa Bay is the best way we can go about providing a hand up to those in need.”
The “Back to the 80’s Prom” starts at 7:00 PM, with check-in beginning at 6:30 PM. Upon arrival at River Hills Country Club, guests will go to the front entrance where volunteers will assist them with the check-in process and escort VIP’s to their reserved tables or VIP Lounge.
During the event, guests will be entertained by DJ Chuck Amstone of Solid Gold Entertainment, who will be spinning 80’s hit all night long. Be sure to wear your best 80’s attire or costumes – anything 80’s goes! Whether you want to be Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, or a Ghostbuster, it’s all up to you – and you may just win a prize for Best Outfit!
In addition to awesome 80’s music and bad fashion, you can hop into the on-site Photo Booth to create some prom night memories, try your luck at winning some incredible raffle baskets, battle it out with your fellow prom attendees during the “Crazy 80’s Lip Sync Battle” or get in on the action of an “Atari Madness” gaming battle. Game on, Donkey Kong!
As if that wasn’t enough, “Back to the 80’s Prom” wouldn’t be a true prom without the crowning of a Prom King and Queen. However, there’s a catch because this is a fundraiser, after all. The Prom King and Queen will be determined based on how much money is donated towards their nomination. Make sure you bring your wallets! Did we mention October 17th is also known as “Sweetest Day”? What could be a sweeter gift than making sure your sweetie walks away as Prom King or Queen?
Guests will be treated to a light dinner, dessert and a cash bar. VIP tickets are available to those who would like open bar access, which includes well liquor, beer and wine for the duration of the evening. Interested in sponsorship opportunities? There are still sponsorship’s available starting at as little as $10.
