Bradenton, FL (August 24, 2015) The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) School of Pharmacy recently welcomed 310 new students, including the second class of Distance Education (DE) students, to its campuses in Bradenton, FL and Erie, PA.
LECOM-Bradenton received 143 students for the traditional, four-year PharmD program. Another 24 students entered LECOM for the Distance Education Pathway, as LECOM is only the second school nationally to offer a four-year, online Doctor of Pharmacy degree program.
Local student Ashleigh Beachy is one member of the Class of 2019 from LECOM-Bradenton. She is the only person in her large family to go to college and receive a degree. “I’ve worked for Walgreen’s as a pharmacy technician for over ten years,” said Hinkle. “I started the month after graduating high school, and am looking forward to continuing my pharmacy career at LECOM.”
The LECOM Erie campus, which offers an accelerated, three-year Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program, also welcomed a class of 143 student pharmacists.
The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) is the nation’s largest medical college and, with Millcreek Community Hospital and the Medical Associates of Erie clinical practices, is the core of the only Academic Health Center in the osteopathic profession. LECOM Health, this highly innovative health care and education system, strives to add to the quality of life of our neighbors by bringing total health care to the community. LECOM is preparing the next generation of physicians, dentists and pharmacists at campuses in Erie and Greensburg, PA and in Bradenton, FL.
