August 19, 2015 – (Sarasota, Florida) – Shaun P. Merriman, President and CEO of Gateway Bank of Southwest Florida, announced today that Hellen Osorio, Gateway Bank’s Assistant Vice President and Credit Analyst, was recently named Incoming President of The Risk Management Association (RMA) – Sarasota Chapter. Osorio will serve for the September 1, 2015 – August 31, 2016 fiscal year. In addition, she will serve as Education Chair.
Gateway Bank has supported the local RMA chapter through institutional membership since 2009, and encourages its credit and corporate lending staff to get involved. Osorio has been an RMA member for two years, and began serving on the Sarasota Chapter board of directors in November 2013 as Communications Chair. She was then elected Vice President for the 2014-2015 year, and will begin her presidency on September 1. In her new role, Osorio will oversee the committees, administration, and general functions of the chapter. Her strong leadership abilities are key in the planning and executing of program activities. As Education Chair, Osorio will be in charge of coordinating instructor-led continuing education courses for chapter members.
“I enjoy volunteering for RMA, because it is such a well-known professional organization and I have made a lot of networking connections in the industry,” said Osorio. She continued, “The educational component helps me to become more proficient in my role at Gateway Bank.”
Osorio began her banking career five years ago with the Florida Office of Financial Regulation, where she served as a state-chartered bank examiner in the Tampa region. Osorio joined Gateway Bank in October 2013 in her current role as Credit Analyst. She is also in her senior year at the University of Florida, Florida School of Banking in conjunction with the Florida Bankers Association and will graduate in August 2016.
