Bryant Miller Olive attorney Nikki Nate has been named as the recipient of the prestigious ARCS Light Award from the ARCS Foundation – Tampa Bay, in recognition for her work in serving as the organization’s General Counsel since 2010.
Achievement Rewards for College Scientists, known as ARCS, is a women’s group that’s one of the largest membership organizations in the country to contribute to science education, with over 14,000 college scholarship awards in the organization’s history.
In Florida, the organization focuses on helping PhD candidates in the fields of cancer research and the marine sciences. In recent years, ARCS Foundation – Tampa Bay has given several $15,000 scholarships to students at the University of South Florida. As one example of how the scholarships make a difference, an ARCS scholarship allowed Heidi Toomey, a student in the USF College of Marine Science, to visit the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Australia as part of her research on temperature tolerance in reef organisms.
“We are thrilled to honor Nikki Nate with this award,” said Janet Dickinson, past-president of ARCS Foundation – Tampa Bay. “The ARCS Light Award is given to those who’ve had a powerful long-term impact on the organization. And from the day she helped create the corporation for our group’s launch five years ago, Nikki been a major part of our success.”
Nate, who plays a significant role in Bryant Miller Olive’s work with public sector clients, has also found the ARCS experience to be valuable to the law firm.
Her ARCS experience played a part in Hillsborough County hiring Bryant Miller Olive to represent two county-related non-profits. Also, Nate has presented on the topic of “How to Stay Friends to your 501c3 Organizations” to the Florida Association of County Attorneys.
She will receive her award at the ARCS Foundation – Tampa Bay Scholar Reception at the Morean Center for Clay in St. Petersburg from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15. More details are available at https://www.arcsfoundation.org/tampa_bay/.
