When Gary Webb proposed to Melissa Kunkel, and she said yes, he knew he had hit the bullseye. Gary and Melissa will be wed at Shooters World in Tampa, Florida on Sunday, August 30. The ceremony will be officiated by Bruce Kitzis, Vice President and General Manager of Shooters World, with cake and target practice to follow for their guests.
Gary and Melissa came to Shooters World for their first date in 2014, not realizing then that Shooters World would become their favorite date spot. Melissa purchased a new gun that day and later took the Concealed Weapons Permit course at Shooters World. Shortly thereafter, the pair became members together, and when it came time to choose a venue for their wedding Gary joked that they should get married at the range. Melissa took his light-hearted suggestion seriously and they soon met with staff to begin planning Shooters World’s first wedding ceremony.
A fun and easygoing couple, Gary and Melissa wanted their wedding and reception to reflect those qualities. They worked with wedding planner Amanda Bowers of Bowers Event Design to incorporate themed details like Gary’s boutonniere made out of a .308 caliber shell casing, a couple holding guns for their cake topper, and custom “Gary and Melissa – Shooting for Forever” targets for their first shots as newlyweds.
“We’re honored that Gary and Melissa chose to share their special day with us,” said Bruce Kitzis. “It truly showcases their fun-loving personalities, as well as the welcoming environment we’ve created here, that they would want to host their wedding at such a nontraditional venue. All of us here at Shooters World wish Gary and Melissa best wishes and happiness as they begin their new lives together.”
