Tampa – Hillsborough Community College (HCC) has been awarded a five-year, $1.5 million TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) grant from the United States Department of Education, Office of Postsecondary Education.
The TRIO program is designed to increase the retention and graduation rates among low-income, first-generation students and students with disabilities. Through the grant, program participants have the opportunity to meet with academic advisors and tutors on their college experience and receive guidance with applying for financial aid, tutoring and transferring to four-year universities.
“HCC has been proud of its continued success helping at-risk students through the TRIO SSS Program. This grant award will enable the college to provide additional educational opportunities so that these students can complete their degrees and live meaningful, productive lives,” stated Dr. Ken Atwater, HCC president.
Hillsborough Community College serves over 45,000 students annually at its five campuses located throughout Tampa Bay. The college is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
