The award, for External Publications, recognized Pasco EDC’s outstanding promotional initiative, in cooperation with the Zephyrhills Economic Development Coalition, on the Clearly Zephyrhills campaign. Pasco EDC produced three market reports aimed at attracting businesses to Zephyrhills in the retail, industrial/aviation, and medical industries. This is the eleventh regional, state or national economic development award bestowed on Pasco EDC in the last five years.
“I’m really excited for the Zephyrhills Economic Development Coalition,” said John Hagen, Pasco EDC President/CEO. “This award is a huge validation of the tremendous effort that ZEDC, working with Pasco EDC and its other partners, has been able to sustain. It’s quite gratifying to see how that leadership group has pulled together.”
In 2014, the Zephyrhills Economic Development Coalition, a new alliance of local business and community leaders, engaged Pasco EDC to develop an overall branding and marketing campaign to attract a diverse group of companies to the City. The campaign, Clearly Zephyrhills, builds on the City’s long-established reputation as an oasis of healthy living that stems from its most recognized geologic feature—the clear waters of its Florida Aquifer-fed springs.
Hagen noted that “working with the motivated group at the ZEDC gave us the opportunity to devise some novel ways to analyze and share information with the business sectors they wanted to target. We strive to bring a fresh, contemporary approach to economic development marketing every day. It is always an honor to be recognized, especially by our peers from across the state, for the work we do to promote Pasco County communities to business decision makers.”
The three four-page market reports produced for the campaign were designed to highlight opportunities for business relocation or expansion in Zephyrhills, packaged in an attractive way to entice target industries to the area. The reports included needs analyses, workforce and demographic information, and site availability for healthcare, retail, manufacturing and aviation-related businesses. The printed marketing reports were disseminated to site selectors, real estate sales agents, developers, etc. as well as two national conferences.
The 2015 Florida Economic Development Conference, where Pasco EDC received the award, is the premier State event attended by economic, workforce and community developers from Florida’s 67 counties, 400 cities, 24 workforce regions, 13 universities and 28 community colleges to learn about critical and emerging economic development issues and trends. The conference was held in Orlando, FL.
