Becca McCoy went from being a working actor in Chicago to a stay at home mom in Palatka, Florida and lived to tell the tale in a cabaret show. The cabaret will be performed August 14-15 as part of the American Stage After Hours Series at 163 3rd Street North, downtown St. Petersburg. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Tickets available in person at the box office or by phone 727. 823. PLAY, or online at americanstage.org
The award-winning national performer weaves together an eclectic mix of songs, Facebook statuses and personal writings that take the audience on a journey from a culture-shocked, displaced new mom to a woman learning to see the beauty and blessings that come in life’s unexpected twists and turns.
The universal story of ‘blooming where you’re planted’ gets a fresh and engaging treatment in THE PEARL IN THE HOGWALLER, whose title comes from Palatka’s wildly popular and best-known attraction: a mudbog.
Previously seen in Tampa Bay at the Palladium Theatre Side Door, the New American Theatre, and the 2011 Eckerd College Celebration of the Arts, Becca went on to perform this show at the renowned Davenport’s Piano Bar and Cabaret, the foremost cabaret venue in Chicago.
American Stage was the debut venue for her other popular cabaret offerings, LOVE WITH THE LIGHTS ON, and her holiday show presented annually in Tampa Bay since 2010, A NOT SO SILENT NIGHT. THE PEARL IN THE HOGWALLER will be performed in the Lobby Cabaret, and full cash bar service is available to all patrons.
