SARASOTA/BRADENTON, FL – Goodwill Manasota has been honored by the Telly Awards as a Bronze winner in the 35th Annual Telly Awards for its commercial series, titled “Reinvent Yourself,” in the Not-for-Profit category. With nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, this is truly an honor.
Three commercials in the “Reinvent Yourself” series were submitted to the Telly Awards for consideration: one shows a veteran shopping for a blazer to wear to a job interview, illustrating Goodwill’s commitment to helping veterans reintegrate into their lives and communities through employment services. Another tells the story of environmental impact through a young woman who finds a unique chair, while the voiceover explains that Goodwill diverts nearly 40 million pounds of goods from landfills each year. The final commercial shows a young man – an employee of Goodwill – with disabilities shopping for a backpack; he brings this backpack to a Goodwill education program that helps him to earn his high school diploma.
The “Reinvent Yourself” campaign slogan embodies multiple meanings: the reinvention of items that can be repurposed by their new owners, the reinvention of shoppers who enjoy finding second-hand treasures and, most importantly, the reinvention for those with barriers to employment whose lives have been changed through the programs and services Goodwill offers to the community.
“We have been very pleased with our ‘Reinvent Yourself’ campaign and are proud to have earned this honor,” said Goodwill Manasota president and CEO Bob Rosinsky. “This campaign shows that when people donate and shop at Goodwill Manasota, they help us accomplish our mission of changing lives through the power of work. Old or unwanted items are given new life in new homes, people are able to achieve new and better lives through our education programs and employment services – the impact goes far beyond the point of sale.”
Goodwill worked with Nickel Communications on the “Reinvent Yourself” campaign for print and television. Cinematographer and editor was Brad Bryan.
“One of our favorite parts of the Reinvent Yourself campaign is showcasing the breadth of Goodwill’s community impact,” said Lindsey Nickel de la O, creative director of Nickel Communications. “The TV campaign focuses on the positive effect every donation makes by changing lives through education, environmental sustainability, economic impact and job creation.”
The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.
A judging panel of over 500 industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of The Silver Telly Council, judged the competition. Entries do not compete against each other, rather they are judged against a high standard of merit. Fewer than 10 percent of entries are chosen as winners of the Silver Telly, the highest honor. Only 25 percent of entries are chosen as winners of the Bronze Telly.
