TAMPA, Florida – June 29, 2015 – In Paris, the brasserie is an institution. With a cozy, unpretentious atmosphere and excellent fare at modest prices, what’s not to love? Find a small table, whether inside or outside, and order up some classic bistro dishes while you enjoy the moment.
TAPS is bringing the brasserie to Tampa’s International Plaza with its new location on Bay Street next to Capital Grille. Upscale yet casual, it will be the type of restaurant where you’ll want to eat there 3 times a week or simply meet up with friends for happy hour or a night out. The new TAPS at International Plaza, opening in July, will offer a full menu focusing on classic food with modern influences, food people understand and want.
“We are passionately excited to be opening the new TAPS at International Plaza,” said James DeVito, Owner of TAPS. “Brasserie menus are popular worldwide, but Tampa is still missing one and the new TAPS is going to be it. Our downtown location has always been good to us, but we have been restricted by what we can do due to its size and limited kitchen. I am so excited to have a full kitchen. I can’t wait to show Tampa what we can do, and I love our location at the International Mall. We will have the best outdoor space in Tampa.”
From its original location in Downtown Tampa over 7 years ago, TAPS has grown to 5 locations statewide including Winter Park, Naples, Ft. Lauderdale. TAPS started as a bar with great food and has evolved into a restaurant with a great bar. The menu will feature entrées for the first time at TAPS including a Short Rib Ragu, Steak Fritz, Burger, Octopus and Cauliflower & Portobello Tacos – just a few of the new items guest can expect. Of course they will be holding on to their signature dishes like the Tuna Crudo and House Baked Meatballs.
“At TAPS once our guest finishes dinner they are invited to stay as we turn up the music and enjoy the night. Our DJ’s will be spinning old school music mashed with today’s biggest hits. It’s always fun to hear your favorite songs from years back; it brings back good memories” said James DeVito.
In order to bring this concept to life, James DeVito has brought together an all-star team of food and beverage experts. Leading the culinary team at TAPS is Executive Chef Jason Dame. Jason has designed culinary dishes at restaurants such as Datz and Café Dufrain. He has also worked in New York City where he consulted at the small-plate restaurant Sip City. Jason has now taken his talents to the new TAPS location, where he will expertly craft their American Brasserie-style menu.
In addition, the restaurant’s General Manager, Vicente Lavayen, is a certified mixologist who has been tasked with elevating the craft cocktail menu. Vicente has worked at bars and restaurants throughout Florida such as Hudson at Waterway East, JB’s On the Beach, and Boca Raton Resort & Club. In addition to overseeing daily operations, Lavayen will lead TAPS’s beverage program to complement Chef Dame’s menu.
“Service, quality, consistency, lively atmosphere and value are all part of the TAPS culture and commitment to our guests,” says James DeVito. “We take pride in providing our guests with a remarkable experience.”
The new TAPS at International Plaza will be open 11:30am – 1:00am Sunday through Thursday, and 11:30am – 2:00am on Friday and Saturday. For reservations, please call 813-876-5100. For more information on TAPS: firstname.lastname@example.org
