(Tampa, Florida, December 22, 2014) – After more than 22 years leading the Team at Tampa Bay Federal Credit Union as President/ CEO, Dale F. Schumacher, of Holmes Beach, Florida is set to retire on July 3, 2015.
Schumacher, 66, joined Tampa Bay Federal Credit Union after 16 years’ experience in the Credit Union Industry. During his time at Tampa Bay Federal, he worked with the Credit Union’s Board of Directors to establish collaborative efforts with area credit unions that include a shared branch agreement in Brandon. Tampa Bay Federal has nearly tripled its Member Deposits during his tenure and established a service presence in Riverview.
“After more than 20 years in Tampa it is difficult to recognize the autumn of my life has arrived. We have assembled a great team at both the Director and Staff level; and, I regret that I will not be able to watch them, first hand, continue to grow and develop the level of service our Members will receive to meet their changing financial needs in the years ahead,” Schumacher laments. “Colleagues always talk about a legacy of leadership. I believe that is defined by where the Credit Union goes from here. The team and culture are in place. I’m leaving Tampa Bay Federal a better place to do business and work than I found it.”
Throughout Schumacher’s service, advances in the Tampa Bay Federal Experience were focused on the Credit Union’s Mission: Serve Members’ Changing Financial Needs…with Pleasure. These advances included pioneering remote teller service; point of sale auto lending; and, most recently, a state of the art mobile app. Schumacher has taken special pride in the Credit Union’s formal leadership development program and team diversity. The Credit Union has been repeatedly recognized in the Tampa Bay community and Credit Union Industry as a leader in Community Service, including numerous Dora Maxwell Awards from the League of Southeastern Credit Unions.
In 2005 he was recognized by the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce as Small Business Leader. And, in 2011, was inducted into the Credit Union Executives’ Society Hall of Fame for his contributions to the industry. He earned a BS in Industrial Management with Honors in Economics at Purdue University; West Lafayette IN; an MS in Management (Leadership & Organizational Effectiveness) at the University of South Florida; Tampa FL and previously held the position of President / Treasurer at SIU Credit Union; Carbondale IL from February 1980 to June 1992.
