SARASOTA, FL (December, 2014) Sarasota-based general contractor and construction management firm, Kellogg & Kimsey, Inc. hosted its “Topping Out” Ceremony on December 12, 2014 for the One Palm Mixed Use Project, located at the northeast corner of Palm Avenue and Ringling Boulevard. The project team, subcontractors working on the project, and local dignitaries enjoyed a lunch followed by the placement of a Christmas tree and American flag on the top of the recently poured roof structure by the project tower crane.
The ten-story project of 300,000+ square feet will include a 141-unit apartment complex and a 139-room Aloft hotel. Starwood Hotels & Resorts states that their Aloft brand “delivers a fresh approach to the traditional staid hotel landscape. For the ‘always on’ next generation of traveler, the Aloft brand offers a tech-forward, vibrant experience and a modern style that is different by design.” The apartments will meet the need for fresh, new product in the downtown area.
Kellogg and Kimsey, Inc. served on a Starwood Design & Construction Task Team as the Aloft prototype was being introduced to developers and has built the hotel in Tallahassee and Asheville, one of which was awarded the Starwood “New Build Hotel of the Year” for the U.S. and Canada.
