(Lakewood Ranch, Florida) – As the new year approaches, organizers of the 8th annual Grand Ovation at Lakewood Ranch have entered the final stretch of their preparation activities. By all reports, the popular festival is on track to be a complete success with an impressive line-up of the area’s finest performers, as well as a long list of participating vendors and entertainment options.
Slated for Saturday, January 31st from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., Grand Ovation will once again take over Lakewood Ranch Main Street, replacing vehicles with pedestrians and seating at two live performance stages. A singular combination of street festival and concert hall, Grand Ovation is a free celebration of the region’s cultural arts community with performances by top musicians, dancers, thespians and vocal groups. Mote Marine Laboratory will be on hand throughout the day with its Mote Mobile exhibit, a 40-foot “aquarium on wheels” that features an interactive touch tank, a 1,200-gallon tropical fish tank, and informational displays on sharks, sea turtles and shells. Children will be delighted with appearances by Gilly the Shark, Mote’s popular mascot who will also attend the event.
Lakewood Ranch Main Street will be closed to traffic during festival hours. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore a wide variety of booths from vendors and non-profit groups, as well as browse the many shops and restaurants of the downtown district. Seating for performances will be provided, and coolers are prohibited. Grand Ovation was founded by and is supported in large part by LWR Communities LLC.
