Silver will launch the flights from Tampa on Feb. 14, flying to Marsh Harbour in the Abaco Islands on Saturdays and Sundays. The new route is expected to be popular among Tampa International Airport’s leisure travelers.
“Island destinations have been a top priority for us,” said Tampa International Airport CEO Joe Lopano. “We’re thrilled to partner with Silver Airways and offer Marsh Harbour as a new nonstop route, creating easy connectivity between Tampa Bay and a destination known for great boating, fishing and honeymooning.”
The service will add to the more than 52 percent international passenger growth the airport has experienced since adding flights to Zurich, Panama and Cuba in the past four years. Nonstop service to Frankfurt, German on Lufthansa Airlines will begin Sept. 25.
Silver, known in Florida for its convenient intrastate travel, will operate the flights with its fleet of 34-seat Saab aircraft. The flights are a part of the airline’s expansion of Florida-Bahamas routes as well as additional frequencies between Florida cities, including an extra weekly flight between Tampa and Fort Lauderdale, also beginning Feb. 12.
“Our new nonstop service from Tampa and Orlando to the Bahamas, as well as our recently increased flights to Fort Lauderdale from Jacksonville, Orlando and Tampa are all part of our continued focus and increased flying in our home markets throughout Florida and the Bahamas, and our way of making it even easier for our customers to visit all of the unique family Out Islands of the Bahamas,” said Silver Airways CEO Sami Teittinen.
To celebrate the new service, Silver is offering introductory fares from $139 to the Bahamas and $179 from the Bahamas (one way, including taxes and fees)* through 11:59 pm EST on December 22, 2014, for nonstop travel between February 12, 2015 and April 30, 2015.
