Five members of the Sarasota Association of Realtors® were recognized at the Installation and Awards Banquet held on December 4th at the Fete Ballroom of Polo Grill and Bar. The five recipients were nominated by their peers for their unique and valuable contributions to SAR and to the community.
Michael Bruno, 2014 Realtor® of the Year
The Realtor® of the Year award is chosen based upon the SAR member’s lifetime contributions to SAR, Florida Realtors®, the National Association of Realtors®, plus service to the community and business accomplishments. Michael Bruno, a 26-year member of SAR and agent with Michael Saunders & Company, was chosen as the 2014 Realtor® of the Year.
Michael Bruno has served on and chaired numerous committees and participated in various board actions. He served as SAR President in 2011, and was the District 13 Vice-President for Florida Realtors® in 2014. He also finds time to volunteer at many Habitat for Humanity team builds sponsored by SAR.
Candy Swick – 2014 Humanitarian of the Year
The Humanitarian of the Year award is given to an SAR Realtor® member for significant contributions as a volunteer for an organization(s) or project(s) in the community. This year’s award goes to Candy Swick, Broker/Owner of Candy Swick & Company.
Candy has worked tirelessly for many years to support community activities, through both charitable contributions and individual involvement. She has been a volunteer at the Sarasota County YMCA for over 20 years, and has served on the Evalyn Sadlier Jones Branch board of directors for nine years. Through her leadership on the YMCA Board, a fundraising effort this year raised $110,000 to help support the many charitable activities of the organization.
Kristin Triolo – 2014 Meritorious Service Award
The Meritorious Service Award is given to a Realtor® whose service to SAR and his/her fellow members has been of such effectiveness and quality to deserve special recognition. This year’s award goes to Kristin Triolo, broker of Sarasota Homes International.
An active SAR member since 2007, Kristin currently serves as chair of the Green Realtors® Alliance of Sarasota. She was a graduate of SAR’s Emerging Leaders in 2007 and Florida Realtors® Leadership Academy. She has served on the Professional Development Committee, the Green Realtors® Alliance, the Grievance Committee and the Tech Expo Steering Committee. She has also served on the SAR Board of Directors since 2012.
Jacqueline Abney and Alex Krumm – 2014 President’s Award Winners
The President’s Award is a special honor bestowed by the current SAR President to an SAR Realtor® member, or members, who best embody the Realtor® spirit and have contributed to and supported the President’s goals for the past year. This year, the award was presented to Jacqueline Abney and Alex Krumm, who spearheaded the effort to create the Suncoast Regional Young Professionals Network, the first regional YPN chapter in Florida, which has grown to 155 members in its first seven months.
Jacqueline is the Business Development Director for Berlin-Patten Law Firm, and has been active at SAR since joining the organization two years ago. She is also very active in WCR. Alex Krumm is an agent with RE/MAX Alliance Group, and was a graduate of the SAR Emerging Leaders program in 2007. He has since worked on the Professional Development Committee and many SAR events, and was elected to the Board of Directors in 2014. He was also recently elected to serve on the first board for Realtor® Association of Sarasota and Manatee in 2015.
