St. Petersburg, FL – The owners of Spathose, a St. Petersburg based company, that creates wearable sculpture accessories from local organic materials, Scott Durfee and George Medeiros, will celebrate their 25th anniversary on December 24, 2014. This is coinciding with an impending deadline that same sex marriage will be legal after January 5, 2015. The two met up in New England and been together ever since, and have spent the last 15 years working side by side, 24/7 and they are still together. They would love to have the opportunity to tell their story and encourage all media outlets to contact them on this timely subject.
Scott Durfee and George Medeiros are the creative team behind the innovative brand Spathose. Business and life partners for the past 25 years, they create unique wearable sculpture from palm spathe. The creations are a combination of organic material juxtaposed with an industrial edge. The application of metal: screws, nails, and wire, fashion the pieces, generating their aesthetically distinctive expression, where form does indeed follow function. Containing elements of surprise and jeopardy, the abstract forms are individually created via a “conversation” with artist and medium. From fine artists to fashion designers their work transcends the realm of ordinary style by forging fine art with fashion, thus conceiving more than an accessory; they have given rise to wearable sculpture.
