Local Tampa Bay presenters, Laura Dent and Janet Lee Stinson are facilitating important conversations with students about the cutting edge issue of bullying. Their One Heart workshop was inspired by Canadian Adult Literacy Advocate and Learner, Arnie Stewart. Arnie’s inspiring life is now being presented in Hollywood as a screenplay called, Arnie. Investors will be on hand Sunday, November 30th from 12-2pm at Safety Harbor, Florida’s award winning Cellos Charhouse for a Kick-off Brunch and to receive an update on the progress of the Arnie project.
“Arnie passed away in 2012. His final words to me, Tell the kids to never be afraid and always ask for help,” says screenwriter, Janet Lee. “He would be so proud of our anti-bullying workshop when we remind audiences to never be afraid to ask for help. We are continuing the legacy of an amazing man.”
“Bullying is an issue kids need to talk about,” Says presenter Laura Dent. “We teach them that their voice is an instrument that can be used in good ways or bad. We are One Heart. Each of us has a voice.”
“When we share our personal stories about bullying, students understand they are not alone and it gets better.” says Janet Lee.
So far, One Heart discussions have traveled to the Pinellas County Sheriff Youth Ranch, Mattie Williams Neighborhood Center, and the Safety Harbor Community Center after-school program. These presentations accommodate student groups of 40 or less and are available for future engagements.
