Hillsborough County’s Pet Resource Center, the County’s animal shelter and the First Place for Pets, invites the community to help homeless animals go Home Before the Holidays during the shelter’s monthly First Saturday Celebration. The free, family-friendly event is on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the facility at 440 N. Falkenburg Road in Tampa.
Along with holiday music, adoptable pets, kids’ activities, exhibitors, and food trucks, First Saturday Celebration attendees are invited to enjoy frosty fun in real snow at the Pet Resource Center.
To help send shelter pets Home Before the Holidays, hundreds of homeless dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens will be ready to leave with adoptive families—most for as little as $20. All adoptions include spaying/neutering, vaccinations, County license tag, micro-chip, free chip registration, and a goodie bag.
In the spirit of holiday giving, the Pet Resource Center encourages donations to support a new Safety Net Program to aid the community’s neediest pets. Donated items benefit current and future shelter animals as well as those owned by local residents in crisis. The Safety Net Program aims to provide struggling owners with resources to keep and care for their pets rather than turn them into the County shelter. Resources provided may include pet food, low-cost spay/neuter options, training aids, and more. The complete shelter wish list may be found online under the Volunteer & Donate tab at www.HillsboroughCounty.org/Pets.
Hillsborough County’s Pet Resource Center is often the first place to receive the community’s lost and surrendered animals, and the shelter hopes to be the first place adopters come to select a new pet. The facility is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. for adoptions, lost pet searches, and County pet license tags.
