24 commercial real estate leaders participate in tennis tournament
to raise funds for charity dedicated to changing the lives of
America’s foster children through a unique photographic exhibit
Tampa, FL (November 17, 2014) – Avison Young, the world’s fastest-growing commercial real estate services firm, raised $22,600 at its 5th Annual Charity Tennis Tournament on Nov. 14th to benefit the Children’s Board Heart Gallery of Tampa Bay, a unique photographic exhibit created to raise awareness of Tampa’s foster children and to find forever families for the children in foster care.
Held just days in advance of National Adoption Day, the event brought together 24 of the best and the brightest commercial real estate brokers, property owners, attorneys and notable clients from the Tampa Bay area to participate in a friendly tennis tournament to raise funds for charity. Now in its fifth consecutive year, the tennis tournament has raised more than $70,000 total for Tampa Bay charities.
“As a firm, we are honored to have the opportunity to give back to the community in which we live and work, and to do so with such an impactful organization as the Heart Gallery is a humbling experience,” said Trey Carswell, Principal of Avison Young. “In our firth year of our tennis tournament, we are proud to have watched it grow, and with that growth, the funds we’ve raised increase. Today, we were able to give back $22,600 to the community and some of its most in need members, those in foster care.”
Lauren Coup, Vice President of Avison Young, added: “While Avison Young orchestrates this event it’s the support from the entire commercial real estate community through their sponsorships that allows us to raise money for a great cause.”
The tournament was held as a doubles competition in a round-robin format. Participants played against different teams in each round and were awarded points based on games won. Following the tournament, a check was presented to a representative from the Children’s Board Heart Gallery.
“The Heart Gallery is very grateful to be the beneficiary of the Avison Young tennis tournament again this year,” said Jesse Miller, Director at the Heart Gallery Tampa Bay. “What we appreciate most about this partnership is knowing how much Avison Young actually cares about our mission. These are real kids to them, and with their support, they have the potential to impact every single child with a very real, life-changing outcome. To partner with a group of people who understand what’s at stake for every one of these kids is ultimately the partnership which makes the deepest impact.”
