SARASOTA, Fl.—Oct 31, 2014— All Faiths Food Bank and the Sarasota County Fire Department gave out candy and healthy snacks at the Roy McBean Boys & Girls Club to the delight of close to 200 kids. Ninjas, witches and super heroes loaded up with candy, apples, pears and oranges before getting a tour of a Sarasota County fire truck. Squealing with delight, many of the children got to sit in the driver’s seat of the big rig and enjoyed personal tours of all the equipment from fire fighters Chris Kelly and Tommy Ursetti.
“I had as much fun as the kids,” said Jenna Jones, All Faiths director of nutrition. “We are so happy that not only did they get the expected sweets, they also took home fruit and healthy, kid-friendly snacks.”
Fresh fruit was donated by Sunfresh Produce, and Food Bank staff dressed appropriately. The carrot and peas in a pod costumes were also big hits with the kids. “All the children in the area were welcome,” added Jones, “but we are so grateful to the staff at the Boys & Girls Club and the wonderful team from the Sarasota Housing Authority who not only worked with us to make it happen, but jumped right in to hand out goodies.”
