The Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County invites the public to attend an update meeting on the status of the Artspace Project for artists’ Live/Work housing.
Consultants from Artspace conducted a Feasibility Study in Sarasota, April 8 through10 of this year. At that time they met with public officials, realtors, property owners, arts organizations, artists, stake holders, funding sources and banks to evaluate conditions for providing attainable, affordable live/work space and support services for those 5,000 people working in the Arts, one of the primary economic engines for Sarasota. The target study area was the historic North Trail corridor.
The public meeting will include a review of the findings of the Artspace team from their community visit in April and their recommendations for assessing the feasibility of an Artspace project for Sarasota. The meeting will address the economic impact of the arts, answer questions and concerns, and build community support for a project while gathering information about the community’s need and interest in a project.
