PHSC’s Concept College Receives Wells Fargo Foundation Grant

October 21, 2014 by Press Release

Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) Foundation recently received a $10,000 grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation to support the Concept College Program at Pasco-Hernando State College. The Wells Fargo Foundation has provided, to date, $20,000 in support of the program.

Concept College is an outreach program for high school students who are economically disadvantaged, minorities, teen parents, disabled, migrant, retrieved dropouts, or otherwise non-traditional. Many of these special population students have little or no expectation of attending college. The program is coordinated with Pasco and Hernando County School Districts that cooperate with PHSC in identifying at-risk students through its Dropout Prevention Programs and Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Departments. PHSC implemented Concept College to encourage high-risk youth to envision career options and consider college as a path to achieve success.
