Hernando County residents are invited to attend a rain barrel workshop on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 from 5:30 – 6:30pm. at the Hernando County Extension office, 1653 Blaise Dr., Brooksville, FL 34601. The workshop will provide participants information on the use and care of rain barrels followed by partial assembly of their
65-gallon rain barrels.
Using rain barrels in a landscape is a great way to reduce dependence on irrigation and provide water to plant beds and vegetable gardens. Diverting potential runoff also helps protect area waterways from potential pollution.
Cost for the class is $68, which includes a rain barrel. One barrel per household. Customers of Hernando County Utilities Department will receive a $25 credit on their water bill. Class size will be limited. Write checks to HCUD and mail them to HCUD Rain Barrel Workshop, 21030 Cortez Blvd, Brooksville, FL 34601.
