The 6th Annual Chowdown for Charity will be held on Thursday, October 30th from 6:00-8:30 pm at the Riverhouse Banquets and Weddings facility in Palmetto,FL.
Come rub elbows, sample the finest restaurant fare and be amazed by the dishes prepared by students of local culinary programs! This unique culinary event features 10 area restaurants that will participate in an exciting competition for the coveted “Best of” Chowdown Trophy. The chef’s dishes will be judged by an expert grand panel including Senator Mike Bennett, Senator Bill Galvano, Mayor Wayne Poston, and Summer Smith-Pope. Ever-popular and beloved local foodie Maverick Johnson with 106.5 CTQ will be the emcee and host for the evening.
Three local culinary program students will compete in a dessert competition. Students from Manatee Technical Institute, Southeast High School and University of South Florida Hospitality Program will take part in this competition. Local favorite celebrity chefs, Ray Arpke (Euphemia Haye) and Jacqui Pressinger (Culinary Institute of America) will be judging this category of the event.
Most importantly, this event raises much needed funds to help support and continue culinary education in Manatee County schools. These programs cultivate students into job-ready and employable candidates all while promoting life and job skills.
