3D Printing the Future: The Exhibition
Opened June 14- Extended through December
From fashion to décor, entertainment to toys, medical devices to human organs, 3D Printing the Future – The Exhibition illustrates 3D printing’s boundless and mind-blowing potential to re-shape how we live, work and play, while allowing visitors to try their hand at this transformative technology inside a hands-on workshop.
3D Printing the Future offers an inspiring glimpse of the future through 3D-printed objects, live demonstrations, and hands-on 3D printing, along with an in-depth look at how 3D printing technology works, how it is used, and the amazing possibilities for the future. 3D Printing the Future – The Exhibition is a limited engagement and is free with MOSI admission.
PANDAS: The Journey Home – IMAX – Now showing
The Journey Home, tells the story of the pandas of the Wolong Panda Center and their reintroduction into the wild. Scientists and keepers work tirelessly to raise these pandas in captivity. See all the hard work that goes into the giant pandas and the training they must go through before being released into the wild.
Interstellar- IMAX Premiere
In the future, governments and economies across the globe have collapsed, food is scarce, NASA is no more, and the 20th Century is to blame. A mysterious rip in spacetime opens and it’s up to whatever is left of NASA to explore and offer up hope for mankind. Interstellar chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage. Mainly based on the scientific theories and script treatment of renowned theoretical physicist, Kip Thorne.

Minecraft at MOSI (these events are on-going)

Experience the gaming phenomenon of Minecraft! Make friends, discover new secrets and tricks and learn how you can be a Minecraft Designer, Adventurer, and even Master.
Minecraft Mania (Ages 7-12) (these events are on-going)
Saturdays, from 1 – 3 p.m. & 4 – 6 p.m.
Program fee: $20 ∙ MOSI member: $15
Make friends, discover new secrets and tricks, and learn how you can be a Minecraft designer, adventurer, and even master. Each week will feature different customized worlds and scenarios, featuring individual and multiplayer play only found at MOSI. Create new worlds and make a playground for your imagination. Advanced registration required.
National Hispanic Scientist of the Year
MOSI will present this year’s National Hispanic Scientist of the Year Award to Dr. Rafael L. Bras, Provost and V.P. for Academic Affairs at the Georgia Tech School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Dr. Ana Maria Rey, Physicist and recipient of the 2013 MacArthur Fellowship “Genius Grant”: and 2013 Professional Early Career Award, during a gala award ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 11. Proceeds from table sales for the gala go to provide more than 1,300 students from underserved communities and low-income schools an exciting day of mentoring with Dr. Bras and Dr. Rey as well as access to more than 450 MOSI hands-on exhibits during Meet the Hispanic Scientist Day, which will take place on Friday, Oct. 10. Event proceeds also help to fund MOSI’s YES! Team, an educational enrichment and vocational training program designed to help at-risk youth develop and progress in a supportive peer-group environment. Visit mosi.org for more information.

Nov. 11, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The Museum of Science & Industry is hosting the Hillsborough County Public School’s Brain Bowl. As many as 400 students will participate in science trivia and experiments, including a “Quiz Bowl,” mousetrap car competition, chemical equation balancing competition, demo contest and a poster contest. Students must qualify at their schools in order to make it to the final Brain Bowl at MOSI. The Brain Bowl is organized by the Hillsborough County Public High School Science Department.
Fire Sprinkler Demo
Nov. 15, from 1 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Come to MOSI on November 15 to witness first-hand the devastating power of fire. Watch two identical rooms react to fire. One is equipped with a fire sprinkler system, the other is not. MOSI teams up with the Home Fire Sprinkler Association to show you just how quickly a home without proper fire sprinklers can go up in smoke!
Veteran’s Day Appreciation Weekend

In honor of Veteran’s Day, all active and retired military personnel, EMTs, firefighters, first responders and police officers receive admission to MOSI for only $5.
America Recycles Week – Nov. 10-16, 2013

Santa’s $5 day at MOSI

MOSI hosts $5 days each year to allow community members of all incomes access to MOSI exhibit galleries, including The Amazing You exhibition, Kids In Charge!, the largest children’s science center in the nation, and more than 450 hands-on, interactive exhibits. Admission to Santa’s $5 Day also includes entrance to an IMAX DOME Theatre Film.
Einstein on Food and Wine

With a dash of science, a pinch of atmosphere and a heaping helping of food and wine, the Museum of Science & Industry will host its 18th annual Einstein on Food & Wine event on Saturday, Jan. 17. This is the event to attend for anyone who enjoys wine, food, music and supporting a worthy cause through a silent auction. ABC Fine Wine & Spirits, the host sponsor for the event, will feature more than 50 vintners with a variety of wines, including reds, whites, champagne, domestic and imported. Delicious food and dessert from an array of local restaurants will be featured including: Chart House, TC Choy and Byblos Pitas. In addition to the food and wine, a silent auction will be held with proceeds to benefit MOSI’s educational programs.
