“My family is from Germany, and I wanted to do something to celebrate that heritage” stated Brian Fenstermacher, Owner and Brewery Manager at Southern. “This festival is our way of honoring the German Oktoberfest, as well as celebrating the autumn harvest and pumpkin season.”
In tribute to the German celebration of Oktoberfest, the brewery is releasing an Oktoberfest style beer for the occasion. Attendees will be able to purchase 0.5L German mugs that get them discounts on beer in the taproom through the entire month of October.
The brewery will also be releasing their annual pumpkin spice beer, Gourds Gone Wild, and an Imperial Pumpkin ale. For the cider lovers, there will be a Cranberry Cider, and for the teetotalers, there will be Apple Pie Kombucha and Pumpkin Craft Soda.
Local food truck, Roaming Gourmand, will be onsite from 12-8p with a special menu that features German-inspired food. Eric Zawalich, a local accordion player, will play a variety of German and Polka tunes from 1-4p.
The event is family friendly, and there will be some kids activities, such as a pumpkin painting station. Attendees are also welcome to bring their dogs to the event.
There will be a mini-market set up in the side lot with a variety of autumn and Halloween themed vendors from 11a-4p.
So far, vendors include BAKED baked goods, Lil Black Kitty Designs jewelry, bin52 by cindymadewhat beer-inspired jewelry, Blue Moon Broom, Brush and Besom custom brooms, and Eric Ondina Face Painting. Participating vendors will continue to be added to the Facebook Event.
