SARASOTA, Fl.—October 8, 2014— All Faiths Food Bank presents its annual signature luncheon benefit Bowls of Hope on Sunday, November 9, 2014. As many as 1,500 people come for a day in the park to support of All Faiths Food Bank, and the families it serves. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the grounds of Phillippi Estate Park at 5700 S. Tamiami Trail in Sarasota.
Guests will enjoy the lovely estate grounds – tented for both sun and rain – as they browse hundreds of ceramic bowls created by local artists, selecting one take home to keep as a reminder of the many empty bowls they are helping to fill in our community. Close to 40 local restaurants have donated soup for the luncheon, and attendees will have the opportunity to taste as many as three kinds before selecting a bowl of their favorite for lunch. Bread, dessert and beverages will also be provided. “The Wan-na-bes” will perform a variety of live music.
This soup and potters event was started almost 15 years ago by a high school teacher who wanted to make a difference in the community as an artist. He enlisted his pottery students and, as a reminder of soup lines, some neighborhood restaurants. The resulting outpouring of support from guests has allowed the event to grow to an annual luncheon in cities across America.
“This is such a popular event,” said All Faiths’ Executive Director Sandra Frank, “It brings together so many types of people – the artists, foodies, chefs, and Food Bank supporters – all in one beautiful place for a great cause.”
New this year is an opportunity to purchase VIP tickets for $100 each. VIPs will enjoy guaranteed seating under cover, quick check-in, and great parking.
