SULPHUR SPRINGS, Fla. – (Oct. 6, 2014) – Current of Tampa Bay will sponsor its first Sulphur Springs Hope for Homes Project during the weekend of Oct. 10 – 12. Hope for Homes Projects provide remodeling and improvement work on homes owned by low and middle income families. Working with community volunteers and small businesses, Hope for Homes will not just renovate the family’s home, but the efforts also greatly improve their quality of life. This is the fifth home renovation since 2010.
“We are eternally grateful for the overwhelming support we have received from local members and organizations to help launch our first project in Sulphur Springs,” said Current Founder, Jason Sowell. Current is the local nonprofit that operates the Hope for Homes Project. “This family has faced a number of obstacles, all the while maintaining a positive and hopeful outlook. Their story is one of dedication and determination and we are eager about the opportunity to support them.”
The Pinkney family, which includes Mr. and Mrs. Pinkney and their five children ages 18, 15, 14, 4 and 3, recently purchased a home in Sulphur Springs. Both parents are employed full time and their 18-year-old daughter has been accepted into fashion design school. Mrs. Pinkney’s mother will soon be living with the family after becoming severely ill and one of the Pinkney children suffers from bi-polar disorder.
Home repairs for the Pinkney family will include: air duct renovation, drainage lines, plumbing, new appliances, ceiling repairs and kitchen renovation. Hope for Homes Projects generally range from small remodel or repair jobs to more extensive repairs, which help bay area families enjoy a better quality of life.
Community contractors will work on the $10,000 worth of renovations throughout the week and local volunteers will participate in landscape maintenance on the Pinkney home as well as neighboring houses from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday to Sunday. During that time, the Pinkney family will spend the weekend in a local hotel where they will enjoy visiting local Tampa attractions and relaxing in a peaceful environment.
In order to complete the renovations, Current is seeking the donation of the following items:
• Bunk bed set
• Bathroom and kitchen linens
Local companies like Stylecraft Window Treatments, Morgan Air Conditioning, Amoroso Cabinets, GRW Construction, Crossover Church, Brooksville Church of God of Prophecy, The Florida Aquarium, Buddy Brew Coffee, Mainsail Extended Stay and Vistra Communications, are providing support for the project.
