GABF Bronze—Vienna Lager medal is among the most coveted in the brewing world
Bradenton, FL • 10.4.14— Motorworks Brewing claimed a bronze medal at the 2014 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) competition. Presented by the Brewers Association, GABF is the largest national beer competition that recognizes the most outstanding beers produced in the United States. The top three winners in the competition’s 90 beer-style categories were announced October 4 at the Great American Beer Festival awards ceremony held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado.
“Very proud to bring home a medal for Motorworks Brewing and the state of Florida. Thanks to all of our friends and the local Florida brewers for their support. Drink Local.” said Bob Haa, Head Brewer at Motorworks Brewing.
Motorworks Brewing was recognized in the Vienna Lager beer-style category for its VTwin Lager, a bright copper colored and light bodied beer, with moderate but firm hop bitterness and a rich Vienna Malt taste. Motorworks Brewing has a 30 barrel brewhouse along with a 3.5 barrel pilot batch system. Ten fermenters ranging in size from 3 to 90 barrels are used in the fermentation process. Motorworks Brewing is a microbrewery located in Bradenton, Florida that specializes in all varieties of craft beer.
The 2014 GABF competition winners were selected by an international panel of 222 expert judges from the record number of 5,507 entries, plus 89 Pro-Am entries, received from 1,309 U.S. breweries.
“Once again the Great American Beer Festival brings the best of the best together in one place,” said Chris Swersey, competition manager. “At a time when American brewers offer so much variety, it’s a true honor to be recognized as one of the finest. Our greatest gratitude to the winners and all entrants whose innovative and outstanding beers help make this such an esteemed competition.”
