Largo’s intent is to encourage local shopping at sidewalk sales, tent sales and other shopping-related events during the busiest shopping month of the year.
Largo, FL – For the past three years, Largo’s City Commission has declared the month of November as Small Business Month. To celebrate Largo’s upcoming 4th Annual Small Business Month, the City of Largo Commissioners have adopted a resolution for a moratorium on collecting temporary event fees for the month of November 2014. The moratorium will encourage businesses to host sidewalk sales, tent sales, or other shopping-related events through the community during the busiest shopping month of the year. While the City of Largo encourages support of all businesses throughout the year, the shopping days following Thanksgiving are of special importance to small businesses, who are traditionally sensitive to holiday sales. In general, for every $100 spent at a locally-owned business, $68 stays in the local economy.
If your business would like to host an outdoor temporary event during the month of November, visit Largo.com/askaplanner page to download a Temporary Event Permit. While the fee will not be collected, the City is still requiring that an application be submitted for life and safety review.
