WCI Communities has started construction on the three-building clubhouse at Sarasota National, its 2,400-acre master-planned community in Venice, named by Forbes as the top U.S. city to retire in 2014.
Featuring a contemporary Mediterranean Revival-inspired style, the clubhouse buildings will offer approximately 25,000 square feet of under-air amenities exclusively for golf club members, including a health club; main clubhouse with coffee room, library and dining facilities; and the 19th Hole golf grill and club. Outdoor areas will feature expansive patios and dining areas and a large poolside tiki bar with breezeways, flower-laced trellises, colonnades and pergolas linking the buildings.
Elliptical motorcourts will provide access to different areas of each building, and the 19th Hole, golf club and main clubhouse will feature rotunda parlor entries with vaulted ceilings.
The clubhouses were conceived by WCI and designed by Fawley Bryant Architects of Sarasota as the community’s activity and social hub for residents and golf club members.
The main clubhouse building will offer dining and banquet facilities, a bar and lounge area, card room and multipurpose room. Retractable partitions will expand the main dining room to accommodate seating for 150. Covered patio and dining areas will wrap around most of the building and connect with the large covered tiki bar and resort-style pool.
This central building also will have a commercial kitchen, a smaller card room, two sets of restrooms, and a coffee room with tables and counter-style seating. The adjoining library has been designed as a reading room with natural afternoon sunlight.
The separate health club will offer a large fitness room, two activity rooms, men’s and ladies’ locker rooms, and two spa treatment rooms.
Catering to golf enthusiasts, the 19th Hole golf club will feature men’s and women’s locker and card rooms, a grill and dining room with bar, wraparound outdoor dining areas, and a 19th Hole patio, overlooking the golf course’s 18th green.
Sarasota National offers an 18-hole golf course designed by Gordon Lewis and certified as an Audubon International Signature Sanctuary. Golf facilities at Sarasota National include a pro shop, driving range, and chipping and putting greens.
WCI offers Coach and Carriage homes, single-family Villa and Grand Villa homes, and Golf Estates at Sarasota National. The community’s 25 home designs feature two to four bedrooms and 1,375 to 3,184 square feet of living space.
Coach Homes at Sarasota National start from $189,990. Single-family homes start at $239,990.
Several quick-delivery homes are available for immediate or near-immediate occupancy, and seven model homes are open for viewing.
Sarasota National was created with 1,300 acres designated for preservation, conservation and open space. It is approved for 1,584 homes, including 800 homes surrounding the golf course and country club area.
