CLEARWATER, Fla. – Clearwater Gas System (CGS) will observe Public Natural Gas Week from Oct. 5-12, 2014. This annual nationwide celebration builds public awareness about the many benefits that a community-owned natural gas distribution system provides its residents.
There are approximately 1,000 public gas systems serving more than five million customers. Public gas utilities are not-for-profit retail distribution entities that are owned by and accountable to the citizens they serve. They include municipal gas distribution systems, public utility districts, county districts, and other public agencies that have natural gas distribution facilities.
There are some very important benefits that public gas systems provide their community. While many utilities are cutting back on customer service and sales activities, Clearwater Gas System maintains a leading role as a vibrant, community-based energy provider. Our valuable contributions include a variety of economic development opportunities and “green” energy solutions that offer the most reliable and environmentally-friendly alternative energy options.
In honor of the weeklong celebration, Clearwater’s City Council will issue a Public Natural Gas Week Proclamation on Oct. 3. The public is also invited to stop by the Gas Sales Office at 711 Maple St. to receive a free 2015 wall calendar as a token of appreciation.
Thank you for supporting Clearwater Gas System as it continues to deliver safe, reliable natural gas into homes and businesses. As the cleanest burning fossil fuel, natural gas can help achieve energy security and build a more competitive economy.
