Pasco County, Florida — The Busy Buddy, LLC, a company that spends its time helping other companies streamline their operations by providing support services, is getting a little help of its own thanks to Pasco Economic Development Council’s microloan program. The Busy Buddy, LLC, located in the SMARTstart Dade City Incubator is the fifteenth company to be awarded a microloan and will use the money for business operations, training and marketing.
“We’re a startup in the business of helping other businesses, so it’s nice to get a little help of our own,” said Kellye Dash, owner of The Busy Buddy, LLC. “We’ve been a part of the SMARTstart incubator since February, and the classes and seminars have been invaluable. The microloan, coupled with the business assistance through SCORE, will help us continue to grow in Pasco County.”
The Busy Buddy, LLC, was started by Kellye Dash as a part-time business in 2009, and by 2012 had grown into a full-time enterprise. In February 2014, Dash moved The Busy Buddy, LLC, into Pasco EDC’s SMARTstart Incubator in Dade City and began working strategically to grow her business. Services provided by The Busy Buddy, LLC, help to level the playing field for start-up businesses that compete with other more established firms.
“Helping companies like The Busy Buddy starts a ripple effect. It supports a local entrepreneur, creates a job in our community, and enables the company to help other entrepreneurs at the same time,” said John Walsh, Pasco EDC Vice President.
According to Pepperdine University’s 2014 Capital Markets Report, 89 percent of business owners are looking to grow their businesses in 2014 but only 46 percent have the financial resources to do it. Pasco EDC’s microloan program seeks to remedy that problem. It has strong support from the Pasco County Board of County Commissioners, local banks, and Pasco EDC investors.
Companies that need help obtaining non-traditional financing and are headquartered in Pasco County, or planning to locate in Pasco County, should consider applying for a microloan through Pasco EDC. Visit www.pascoedc.com for more information on how to apply.
