Stanley Giannet, Ph.D., provost, Porter Campus at Wiregrass Ranch, was awarded the prestigious honor of Business Leader of the Year and Honorary Mayor at the 2014 Greater Wesley Chapel Chamber of Commerce Celebrating Excellence in Business Banquet.
“We congratulate Dr. Giannet as the 2014-2015 Business Leader of the Year and Honorary Mayor as he deservedly represents the Wesley Chapel business community. In this role, he will represent our chamber by being intimately involved in business expansion planning in Wesley Chapel,” said Hope Allen, president, Greater Wesley Chapel Chamber of Commerce.
Giannet was dean of arts and sciences, then provost at PHSC’s North Campus prior to taking on the role of provost at PHSC’s fifth full-service campus, Porter Campus at Wiregrass Ranch, in Wesley Chapel, which opened in January 2014.
Additionally, Giannet began as an adjunct instructor in 1992, transitioning to full-time psychology faculty in 1997. Giannet earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Regents College, University of the State of NY, Albany, N.Y., and a Master of Psychology from the Universidad Inca Garcilaso de la Vega in Lima, Peru. He holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Walden University, Minneapolis, Minn., and completed post-doctoral training in psycho-immunology at University of South Florida College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry, where he also held an affiliate assistant professor post.
Giannet holds a graduate certificate in theology from the Australian Catholic University, professional certificates in human resource management and information systems management from the University of Cambridge (UK), and a certificate in executive leadership from Cornell University. Also, Giannet is the published author of “Love is Stronger Than Death: Encountering Our Struggle with Grief,” and “The Dysfunctional Relationship Manual: A Checklist and Workbook.”
Each year the Greater Wesley Chapel Chamber of Commerce celebrates the extraordinary accomplishments of local community members, businesses, and organizations. The Business Leader of the Year and Honorary Mayor is awarded to a business owner or manager who best exemplifies generosity in giving for community benefit.
