Helping kids choose information technology as a career in growing Tampa Bay technology hub
TAMPA, Fla. – Ad 2 Tampa Bay has selected Computer Mentors Group for its 37th annual public service campaign, an effort for local non profits. The pro-bono professional advertising campaign is valued at more than $730,000. Tampa is becoming one of the major hubs for technology and partnering with Computer Mentors Group will reach young minds locally to gain an understanding and appreciation for the skill.
“Computer Mentors Group is a group whose primary mission is to help kids choose information technology as a career. These kids have an aptitude and they will make great coders and great technicians for local technology companies that need skilled people to do specific jobs.” Said Ralph Smith, executive director of Computer Mentors Group. “These jobs include developers, graphic artists, programmers and telecommunications specialist. Ultimately, we want technology companies to get involved so we can build a bridge between the kids and the jobs that these technology companies have”
After learning what Computer Mentors Group was focused on and realizing that technology was having such a major impact in the Tampa Bay market now and in the future. Ad 2 Tampa Bay recognized that it would be a perfect fit to partner with an organization that makes a positive influence in local youth. Using advertising and public relations skills gained from years of real world experience, Ad 2 Tampa Bay’s goal is to bring the awareness of what the Computer Mentors Group is doing to the forefront of residents minds.
“Tampa is a becoming a technology hub. We want to help grow the technology community by supplying these companies with the people that have the skills they need. We do this by empowering the local kids in our community with the skills needed for meaningful information technology careers,” said Ralph Smith.
Over the course of the year, Ad 2 Tampa Bay will work with Computer Mentors Group on creating and implementing an integrated campaign, including TV, radio, outdoor and print ad placements, targeted at increasing awareness for educating young minds about information technology.
