FIVE by FIVE 2014 Celebrates the Arts and Small Art for a Big Cause
Where: Tampa Museum of Art
When: October 17, 8-11 p.m.
FIVE by FIVE 2014 returns for its third year and takes over the first floor of the Tampa Museum of Art on Oct. 17. Nearly 700 pieces of 5 inch by5 inch art donated by 467 professional and emerging artists in 24 states and four other countries will fill the main atrium, and live performances will take place throughout the night in a pop-up club on the first floor. Each 5 inch by 5 inch original piece of art will sell for only $25 with proceeds benefiting individual artist grants and workshops from the Arts Council of Hillsborough County.
Tampa, FL – The Artists Advisory of the Arts Council of Hillsborough County will present a multi-dimensional celebration of the Arts at FIVE by FIVE 2014 on Friday, Oct. 17 at the Tampa Museum of Art.
The third annual event will include dynamic performances by professional musicians, actors, poets and dancers throughout the evening, as well as an exhibition of artwork displayed anonymously. Nearly 700 pieces of art donated by professional, emerging and student artists are available for $25 each. The artist’s names are revealed when purchased. The artwork includes painting, drawing, etching, wood sculpture, metal sculpture, jewelry, clay, mosaic, glass, metal, photography, fabric, mixed media and more.
In addition to the contributions of work from hundreds of Bay area artists, artwork this year came from Hong Kong, Italy, Germany and Thailand, as well as from 24 states across the nation.
Last October, buyers picked pieces, which were also displayed without attribution, for $25 each — gambling on getting a piece by an established artist or just a cool collectible. The event attracted more than 900 patrons to the museum and raised $13,000 to support programs for individual artists from the Arts Council.
Tickets can be purchased before the event through the Tampa Museum of Art’s website for $10. Museum members are admitted free. FIVE by FIVE 2014 attendees may also visit the museum’s Renoir to Chagall: Paris and the Allure of Color exhibition which showcases 55 masterpieces from the renowned Dixon Gallery and Gardens collection.
