Hillsborough County’s Pet Resource Center, the County’s animal shelter and the First Place for Pets, invites the community to its First Saturday Celebration on Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the facility at 440 N. Falkenburg Road in Tampa.
In celebration of national October Adopt-a-Dog Month, the Pet Resource Center will offer adoption specials on hundreds of pets – both dogs and cats – at a single location. All adoptions include spaying/neutering, vaccinations, County license tag, micro-chip and free chip registration. Many pets will be available to leave the shelter the same day for their forever homes.
In celebration of the arrival of hockey season, First Saturday Celebration on October 4 will also showcase the Tampa Bay Lightning’s Rolling Thunder Truck, giveaways, and an appearance by the team mascot, ThunderBug. Photo opportunities are available.
The event will also feature food, music, children’s activities, and a variety of exhibitors and local rescue partners. Admission is free.
First Saturday Celebration events are family-friendly and take place at the County animal shelter on the first Saturday of each month. Aimed at saving lives and boosting community engagement, the effort has achieved positive outcomes for nearly 300 homeless dogs and cats since August.
Because the Pet Resource Center is often the first place to receive the community’s lost and surrendered animals, the shelter hopes to be the first place adopters consider when selecting a new pet. The facility is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. for adoptions, lost pet searches, and County pet license tags.
