LAKELAND, FL (September 19, 2014) – The City of Lakeland Planning Division, in conjunction with the Polk County Office of Planning and Development, is inviting the public to participate in a community meeting for the East Lakeland Sector Plan at theCrystal Lake Middle School Cafeteria on Thursday, September 25th at 6pm. The purpose of the meeting is to seek input from residents, workers, business owners, and students in East Lakeland on how the area should develop and grow in the future.
The sector planning program is intended to help identify strategic issues and develop a vision to guide future growth and redevelopment as well as assist in intergovernmental coordination between the City and County. The East Lakeland sector plan process began in April 2013 and has involved coordination meetings with local government agencies, the school board, the Central Florida Regional Planning Council and a business stakeholder on-line survey targeting large businesses in the area. The East Lakeland Sector Plan is expected to be completed in early 2015.
