MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Sept. 8, 2014) – Manatee County is accepting application for two vacancies on the Planning Commission, a citizens advisory committee that makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on land use items.
The Planning Commission is composed of seven members who are appointed by the County Commission. The two expiring terms will be filled by a County Commission appointee for a four-year term. The group meets on the second Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. in the first floor chambers of Manatee County Administrative Building, 1112 Manatee Ave. W. Planning Commissioners are given a $60 stipend per meeting.
Applicants must be registered voters in Manatee County. No particular expertise is required but people with experience or training in planning, engineering, environmental science and the development industry may be given additional consideration for an appointment.
No member of the Planning Commission may be employed by the County. No member of the Planning Commission may be a member of another land development-related advisory board serving unincorporated Manatee County.
