Hosted by the US Green Building Council Florida Gulf Coast Chapter Celebrates
St. Petersburg, FL (September 8, 2014) — The US Green Building Council Florida Gulf Coast Chapter will host its fifth annual LEEDership Awards on October 15, 2014 at the University of South Florida-St. Petersburg Campus’ University Student Center, a LEED Gold Certified complex.
This year’s keynote and master of ceremonies will be Dave Pogue, the Global Director of Corporate Responsibility for CBRE, Inc., a Fortune 500 and S&P 500 company that is the world’s largest commercial real estate services and investment firm. Mr. Pogue oversees the company’s global development, implementation and reporting for all aspects of corporate social responsibility, including environmental stewardship, community engagement and corporate giving. His remarks will focus on recent research and trends falling under these topics, in line with the event’s theme, Leading Transformation in a Rapidly Changing World.
The LEEDership Awards program is the Chapter’s annual recognition event for the outstanding green building projects, forward-thinking businesses and governments, innovative design teams, and instrumental Chapter members who have displayed green building and sustainable development leadership on the Gulf Coast of Florida through their practices or use of the LEED certification —the leading international third-party green-building certification. The Chapter is now accepting awards submissions for the LEEDership Awards competition here http://usgbc-fgc.org/LEEDerAwards (and click on Call For Entries).
The Chair of the Chapter, Lacey Willard of CBRE, Inc., offered: “The Gulf Coast Region of Florida has extensive opportunities to promote sustainability to untapped markets, and engaging a speaker of Dave’s caliber is the precise messaging our Chapter intends to bring to our community. Sustainability leadership is a proven benchmark of highly successful communities. Dave’s keynote aligns with our Chapter’s vision — to hand the next generation a healthy, self-sustaining Florida.”
The Chapter expects 150 green building practitioners, professionals and Chapter members to attend the event, which includes a networking/cocktail hour, a seated dinner, and the Awards Ceremony. Businesses that believe wholeheartedly in our mission are invited to pledge support for this event, with more information available at our website — www.usgbc-fgc.org/LEEDerAwards.
