On August 27, 2014, the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce presented a Proclamation recognizing the month of October as “Manufacturing Month” and the first Friday of October as “Manufacturing Day to Hernando County Government.”
This Proclamation urges Hernando County residents to join in recognizing the value and economic development impact of Hernando County’s manufacturers and the importance they serve in the county, state and the nation.
Manufacturing provides jobs to over 1,500 Hernando County citizens. There are more than 110 manufacturing facilities in Hernando County. Each day, thousands of manufacturing jobs go unfilled in Hernando County because of the lack of skilled employees.
The Proclamation also commends Hernando County manufacturers, local educational institutions, the Hernando County Office of Business Development and the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce on collaborating to build the next generation of skilled manufacturing employees, take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the industry as a whole.
