TAMPA, Fla. (Aug. 27, 2014) – Amerigroup Florida today announced that it has named Judi Peterson as its new chief operating officer, effective Sept. 2. Peterson will report to Rosy Cozad, Amerigroup Florida’s president and CEO, and will lead the health plan’s operations, networking, provider relations and marketing functions.
“Judi is a trusted and highly respected senior leader who brings a wealth of experience to her new position,” said Cozad. “She has proven expertise in developing best in class teams and finding solutions to ensure optimal customer service. I am pleased that Judi is joining the Amerigroup Florida senior leadership team and confident that her contributions as COO will be a great asset as our company continues to grow.”
Peterson has more than 25 years of leadership experience in managed health care. Since 2007, she has served as vice president of Amerigroup’s national call center and enrollment operations, providing service to more than 4.5 million Medicaid, Medicare, and Long Term Care customers. Prior to this role, she led process improvement for WellPoint’s commercial business lines in the company’s Central and Midwest regions. Earlier in her career, she served as a regional customer service manager for Health Plus of Michigan and held multiple leadership roles with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
