SARASOTA/BRADENTON, FL – Recently, Goodwill Manasota was awarded a JPMorgan Chase grant of $35,000 to assist in funding Goodwill’s American Veterans and their Families Initiative program, founded in 2011. The program, which helped 327 veterans in 2013, assists them in finding employment, as well as providing homelessness prevention case management and support, from deployment to employment. This year’s grant will enable 10 veterans to go through an agricultural certification and internship.
“Goodwill Manasota has done an exceptional job of helping local veterans utilize benefits and services, gain additional education, and find jobs as they transition into civilian life,” said Alton Pardue, first vice president/district manager of JPMorgan Chase & Co. “Goodwill Manasota is meeting a need in the community, and we are proud to assist in funding such an important program.”
This year’s grant is focused on assisting veterans to earn credentials and secure employment. Each veteran selected will have a Goodwill job coach, who will provide regular guidance and support to assist the individuals in moving towards their goals and ensure success sustainability.
“Goodwill Manasota’s mission is changing lives through the power of work, and we focus a great deal of resources and staff to assist with the needs of local veterans in our community,” said Bob Rosinsky, president & CEO of Goodwill Manasota. “We believe that our heroes deserve our help and, with grants and funding from companies such as JPMorgan Chase, we can give them the help they need.”
Each veteran selected will also have a paid internship with Tuner Tree & Landscaping. “We are thrilled to give back to these deserving individuals, as well as be able to participate in this program, which will challenge individuals to discover and implement research-based practices for innovative agriculture,” said Darrell Turner, president of Turner Tree & Landscaping.
