Tampa, Fla. (August 20, 2014) – Central Florida Plumbing Academy, LLC announced it will install, free of charge, all of the necessary plumbing for the Tampa Baseball Museum at the Al Lopez House, located in Historic Ybor City at 2003 N. 19th Street on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014.
Central Florida Plumbing Academy will volunteer its students’ time to install the plumbing. Each student is employed by a licensed plumbing company in the Tampa Bay area and is being educated under the State Indentured Program, in conjunction with Hillsborough County Schools, which requires students to acquire on-job training hours in order to graduate from the four-year program. All material is being donated by the Kohler Corporation and Bucks Plumbing Supply. Instructors will be on site during the build to use this experience as a teaching aid.
The Tampa Baseball Museum, which will operate under the Ybor City Museum Society, will be located inside the former home of Tampa baseball legend and Hall of Famer Al Lopez. The Lopez house was moved by the Florida Department of Transportation from its original location, 1.5 miles away. Restoring and renovating the house has taken a major reconstruction effort, necessitating the new plumbing.
Work on the baseball museum will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will wrap up by the end of the day.
