Members show extended – new exhibitions coming!
The Morean Arts Center has extended its popular 96th Annual Members Show till August 29th. This annual exhibition includes nearly 200 works of art expressing a full spectrum of images and ideas through all media, all from the Morean’s gifted members.Member Show at Morean Center for Clay continues to the end of the month as well.
Continuing in tradition, the Morean awarded a solo show to 2013 Best of Show winner to coincide with the following year’s member’s showcase. Homeland, Lost and Found is Rose Marie Prins’ site-specific installation, inspired by Salah Al Hamdani’s poem, “Baghdad my Beloved” in which he mourns the loss of the homeland he fled during the war that started with the American invasion of Iraq in 2003. Music for the installation was composed and arranged by Rick Neal/element-tao, video production by Jim Sennott, and calligraphy by Charlene McCarthy.
Saturday, September 13th, EyeSplice Collective: Spatial Disruption will open at the Morean Galleries with a free reception from 5:30 – 8pm. This exhibition explores the variety of approaches that 12 emerging female artists take to mapping the boundaries of private and public space. Also, at the Morean Center for Clay, the newly arrived Artists in Residence will provide a gallery talk and host their first show of the year. Free and open to the public. 5:30pm – 9pm.
