Clearwater, FL (November 16& 17) – Join Chi Chi Rodriguez for two days of golf at his 35th Annual Chi Chi Charity Classic on Sunday, November 16th and Monday, November 17. The event will take place at Chi Chi Rodriguez Golf Club, N. McMullen Booth Road.
Chi Chi hosts this traditional 35 year old event entertaining and thanking guests who will enjoy two days of golf at the Chi Chi Rodriguez Golf Club with breakfast and lunch. On Sunday evening Chi Chi is joined by top business and civic leaders both local and from around the country who support the mission of drop-out prevention in Pinellas County. Guests will enjoy a Journey to Success full sit down dinner and program sponsored by Lee Roy Selmon’s of Palm Harbor. On Monday, Chi Chi joins the students and teachers at breakfast, spending time talking one on one with the students and sharing his story of inspiration and how they can also win at the game of life. Following the Monday tournament, players will enjoy a lunch catered by Carrabba’s Macaroni Grill during the final awards ceremony.
This two-day golf event raises money to help support the Chi Chi Rodriguez Academy and its three programs: The Academy, The First Tee of Clearwater, and The Boys & Girls Club After-School Program. Over 900 children attend these programs, providing them with a safe healthy environment to learn and grow. The Academy serves at-risk 4th through 8th graders in a privately supported public school, using the golf course as a living classroom.
A Journey to Success: The first class of graduates who entered Chi Chi’s following our expansion in 2007 from two to five grade levels have graduated high school. Of this original class of fourteen, nine students remained in the Pinellas County School System through high school. Eight of nine students graduated with a C+ or better grade point average, giving Chi Chi’s an 88% high school graduation rate. In comparison, Pinellas County averages a 72% graduation rate. The Academy is grateful to staff and donors who supported and believed in these students early on. The learning tools and academic preparation they received at Chi Chi’s made a big difference!
