Tax Collector Mike Fasano announces that the newly opened Wesley Chapel Tax Collectors Office will host the AAA Back-to-School Safety Day on August 14, 2014. The event will run from 9:00-11:00 AM and will include bike helmet and booster seat checks as well as a distracted driving simulator. The AAA is the nation’s largest automobile safety club. This event is another part of the month-long partnership between the Pasco County Tax Collectors Office and the AAA Traffic Safety Foundation.
Trained technicians from AAA’s Traffic Safety Foundation will be on hand to ensure that bike helmets and booster seats are in proper working order. Additionally, a distracted driving simulator will be available for anyone interested in finding out what it is like to drive while distracted and/ or impaired. This is a popular item for teenage drivers to learn why it is important not to drive while impaired or otherwise distracted.
“I encourage everyone who has young children, teens of driving age, or anyone interested in learning more about traffic safety to stop by our office,” states Tax Collector Mike Fasano. “This is an ideal time, right before school starts, to make sure that booster seats are properly installed and bike helmets are properly fitted and are being used.”
The event is open to the public. The Wesley Chapel Tax Collectors Office is located in Compark 75 at 4610 Pet Lane, just off Wesley Chapel Boulevard.
